What to do, what to do..?
…That is the question.
I feel like I’m on a see-saw at the moment. On one side there is fine art, and on the other side, there’s anime. I’m tossed between them and which one to pursue. Then when I think that I could do both, the see-saw is pretty much broken on both sides.
Right so fine art –> This has a lot more freedom for me as I don’t work under anyone and I guess you could say that I could do whatever ever my heart desired on paper, canvas or whatever I choose to express myself with.
Anime –> Not quite sure about the freedom because I may have to start off by working under someone and anime is already a style of art, the question is, what kind of style is my style in the style of anime?
Anime is a lot more mainstream and vastly popular internationally. Fine art only attracts selective people, by which I mean artists alike, art collectors, art enthusiasts and so on. Depending on what my style is (haven’t quite figured that out yet), people may love it or hate it. I wouldn’t say that I could make more money going down the anime pathway because that isn’t necessarily true. If I am good enough, it doesn’t matter which way I go, hopefully I’ll be happy and whatever money I do get, I will be content with and being a fine artist doesn’t always mean you’re poor. A really good fine artist can make a lot of money, however the bottom line is, I don’t care about how much money I get. It is however still something that I do need to think about as a factor in this ‘equation’ you call it.
I love drawings portraits. Whether it’s anime or life-like I’m always drawn to looking at people’s faces and seeing how unique an individual is. Eyes are another thing. I love eyes and how unique they are to an individual. I do want to translate that into any anime drawing I do.
I want to be unique, and I hope so much that my style will just be that. I want to do something really different yet really magical and not in the literal sense. Magical meaning extra-ordinary, fantastic and amazingly different. xD I think I might be stepping too many stones in thinking that, but it’s just a hope.
Well, they’re just some thoughts on the matter (what to do, and my future). >_<’
Just going on with this subject, new portrait I painted digitally a couple of days ago. I’m quite proud of it. (Besides the background) it came out better than I had thought, although I wouldn’t mind changing the tone of her hair colour, but that can be done another day.

And this next one is a work in progress, hopefully it’ll turn out well. The idea I have in my head I’m REALLY liking, I just hope that i can illustrate what’s in my head, out there onto the page accurately. *crosses fingers*

Oh yeah forgot to mention… the first one is titled, ‘Help’ and the second one (the one above) is title ‘Cakes in the Sky.’ First one = complete. Second one = still in progress. ;]

Oh finally, I hired Serial Experiment Lain tonight. I’ll watch it tomorrow and see how it goes. I’ve rented 3 volumes and I really wish I had a DVD burner haha, but sadly no. It it’s good, like really good, I’ll buy it. I know there are more volumes but they don’t appear to have any more, or someone has already hired it -_-’ That’s annoying. No matter, it’ll be an update for MAL ^_^
This is one of the DVD covers so you know what it is.

It’s meant to be a psychological drama, and was recommended to me on the MAL forums a while back, and I did watch a bit of it on Crunchyroll but I stopped after a few episodes or something. I saw it in the DVD store and thought I’d give it another shot. Hopefully the better video quality will make a difference haha. ^^ I’ll see how it goes and update when I’ve had a go at watching it. :3
